I've decided to let myself off the food diary as long as I either maintain or lose weight.  If I don't lose any weight at all after 3 months, I'll go back to keeping a food diary.  Today I walked only 3/4 mile, but I'll probably walk again later.  I've been trying to incorporate more movement in my daily life, like doing calf-raises while I wash dishes, or just going up and down the steps more instead of asking the children to get things for me.  Okay, so a weight-loss journal is kinda boring and I thought I'd start livening things up a little, but I'll need some time to think about what I could possibly write about that would be even the tiniest bit interesting.  My life isn't exactly a round of gaiety and amusements, and hijinks don't often ensue.  Most of the time I cook, clean, and take care of the kids.  Not your most exciting career, but I'm satisfied.  Alright, I hear the kids fighting -- must go prevent bloodshed.

I can see this food log thing isn't going to work -- by the time the kids are in bed I"m just too tired to update, even if dh wasn't on the computer from after dinner until late at night.  Now I can't recall how many glasses of tea I had, or how big a serving I had of meatloaf.  I did go easier on the mashed potatoes than I usually do, but since I ate them this am for breakfast, I guess I didn't help myself much!  Today's lunch was a meatloaf sandwich and a tossed salad.  The weird thing is, I'm hungrier now than I am when I eat lighter meals.  Why is that?  I think I'll try to keep track of which meals make me hungrier or give me cravings afterward.  I'm doing really well on water today though -- I ran out of tea and I"ve decided not to make another pitcher until this evening, so dh will have some with his dinner.  Oh, and I walked 2 miles today!!!!

I walked 1.5 miles today, and did some stretches afterward.  I'm new to stretching, and I've put it off for a long time because I'm not very flexible, my joints are weak, and because of my body shape I can't stretch some of my muscles much at all.  But I'm going to continue with a brief stretching routine after my walks when I have time.  I also took a shorter walk with the kids, at their pace, which isn't much slower than mine, but I'm not including it in my 'official tally' of miles walked.  Today I've eaten pretty healthy so far:

about 1 cup of scrambled eggs (whole eggs with a touch of whole milk)
1 slice of whole wheat toast with half a tablespoon of butter and a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar
2 cups of coffee with half n half (I know I need to start measuring the cream since I use rather a lot, but somehow I'm not ready for this)
1 cup fresh blueberries

2" square piece of hot milk cake (homemade, so no nasty chemicals and, for a cake, not very rich)

1 cup carrot parsley salad and 1 leftover grilled boneless skinless chicken breast

so far, 3 glasses of sweetened ice tea -- sugar is my nemesis, so I'm alternating glasses of tea with glasses of water

If I get a chance, I'll update with my dinner and late night snacking (hopefully none!) but that depends on how quickly I can get the kids in bed

So, I'm Daphne, and I'm using this journal to keep track of my weight loss and my walking mileage.  My goal is to lose 117 lbs and to work up to walking 10 miles a day.  Today I weigh 225 lbs, down from a high of 237 (so I actually want to lose an additional 105 lbs), and I've walked 1.5 miles.  I'll be logging my walking every day, and my weight once a week, plus maybe some stuff about how I feel.  Oh, and I'm a shorty -- only 5 ft, so my goal weight of 120 lbs is  reasonable.  I may change that goal once I've gotten closer and have a better idea of what my personal ideal body weight is, but for now 120 is a nice even number!
